Summary:
You will help maintain the beauty and functionality of our golf course. It is essential that you keep the course in top condition, ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment for all golfers. You will perform jobs involved in for the maintenance and care of the golf course by performing the following duties.

- Strong interest in golf course maintenance and outdoor work.
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays.
- Basic knowledge of landscaping tools, equipment, and techniques.
- Experience applying fertilizer and chemicals.
- Has AZ spray license or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.
- Ability to lift heavy objects and perform manual labor for extended periods.
- Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of course quality.
- Strong work ethic and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills and a friendly demeanor with golfers and other staff members.
- Desire to be a future superintendent.
Additional training and/or recertification may be required at the company’s discretion.
Essential Job Functions:
- Operates powered equipment in mowing golf course greens, fairways, rough, approaches and tees in a safe and efficient manner.
- Apply fertilizers to putting greens, tees and fairways.
- Marks the golf course for cart control, moves cart control barriers and replaces worn or lost repose and signs and may mark hazard and drop area.
- Paints hazard, out of bounds and ground under repair markings on the golf course.
- Mange the staff in the absence of the superintendent and assistant superintendent.
Duties and Responsibilities:
In addition to the Essential Job Functions listed above:
- Maintain and groom golf course grounds, including fairways, greens, tees, bunkers, and rough areas.
- Aerate turf to ensure optimal playing conditions.
- Water and irrigate the course as necessary, adjusting irrigation systems to meet seasonal needs.
- Assist in the application of fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides as directed by the Golf Course Superintendent.
- Perform basic equipment maintenance and ensure tools and machinery are kept in working order.
- Assist with setting up and maintaining practice areas, such as driving ranges and putting greens.
- Monitor and report on any issues with course conditions, pests, or potential hazards.
- Ensure safety procedures are always followed and report any unsafe conditions to management.
- Provide excellent customer service by assisting golfers when necessary, including answering basic questions about course conditions.
- Participate in seasonal tasks, such as overseeding and leaf removal.
- Changes cups, moves tees markers and fills divots.
- Keeps the golf course clear of any debris or refuse.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience preferred in golf course maintenance or landscaping. Turf certificate a plus.
Language Ability:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather); work near moving mechanical parts; work in high, precarious places; outdoor weather conditions and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals.
The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
Physical Demands:
The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel and crouch.
